Important: Swim session time changes

Membership

Over the last 6 months the club has seen membership grow and we have now been holding a waiting list for 4 months – great news as the club moves from strength to strength. After careful consideration it has been decided to change the times of the Monday evening session from 1st January 2016.

7.00 - 7.45 pm – Junior Swimmers 

7.45 - 8.30 pm – Junior Swimmers

8.30 - 9.30 pm – Adult Swimmers

Fun Evening

The last Monday night swim session of the year will be on Monday 14th December. As is tradition this will be a fun session but with a slight twist. The evening will be a “Fun team event” with a number of races in the form of a relays.

 

Christmas is fast approaching – less than 8 weeks and I haven’t ordered the Turkey yet!!

Welcome to Nicola Debell who joins us as a swimming coach and will be focusing primarily on Lane 1.

We have reviewed the swim dates for 2015 and are pleased to announce that the club will operate swim sessions every Monday except bank holidays.  This will mean that there will be sessions running through the school summer break and at least an extra 6 sessions compared to 2014.

SwimMarathon

The annual Rotary SwimMarathon takes place on the weekend of 6th, 7th and 8th of March 2015.  The club is looking to enter a number of teams in the event this year. 

AGM

A date for your diary and a chance to have your say about the swimming club.  The annual AGM will take place on the 29th April 2015 - more details to follow.

Thanks go to Lorraine Rate who has recently joined our coaching team but we continue to be on the lookout for new swimming teachers, if anyone is interested please contact the Chairman - Paul Hayward.

At the end of July 3 of our senior swimmers took on the “Outlaw” - an Iron Man distance triathlon (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile cycle, 26.2 mile run) in Nottingham.  Congratulations to all 3 who all completed the event in personal best times.

The club continues in its search for additional Swim Coaches, if anyone is interested in coaching or know any Coaches looking for a new venture please contact the Chairman - Paul Hayward

Our Club Gala will be held on 17th November 2014 with a series of team relay events utilising the various swim techniques learned. 

The gala will be open to all ages and abilities with the emphasis on fun.  More details will follow in early September when we return from the summer break.

A number of our adult swimmers have been or will be competing in various Triathlons – Sprint to Iron Man Triathlon, Open Water swims and one club member is even swimming the length of Lake Windermere – 10 miles. 

We wish everybody taking part a successful and safe competition.
